RNS 510 must have a 3xxx firmware as well as a v 7.1 dvd to be upgraded with POI and speed camera! (Product Week 22/2011).
The instructions described here can also be used for Columbus 1 Skode (recognized by the control knob in the lower right corner), which is the same as RNS 510.
Only one personal POI list collection can be loaded into RNS 510 at a time. If the POI list collection already exists, it will be overwritten if the POI list collection is reloaded.
Special features VW RNS 510:
Acoustic warning is not yet possible. There are indications in the database structure that a warning may be possible in the future, for example after firmware update. The number of POI categories that can be displayed at the same time is limited to 10.
Zoom levels to display POI:
- normal POI: 500 m
- Speed camera: 2000 m
- Traffic light: 1000 m
The zoom levels can be set by the user in the configuration fájlban.az ini can be customized with a text editor. The following entries shall be made in Section [1042] :
redlightspeed = 1000
otherSpeedcam = 2000
Normal POI = 500
Import and display in RNS 510:
- unpack the downloaded content and copy it to the storage disk (FAT32)
- Insert the memory card into RNS 510
- click - > Setup - > Navigation - > my Points of Interest (Personal POI) - > Import
- select personal POI database to import and confirm - > import database - > OK
- Display POI categories - > map - > extras - > select POI - > personal POI
